Looking Back
03:33
|
|||
Life has been a contrast of all you've wanted me to be
I could never live up to these expectations...why?
Hidden in the Dark Glass
Living in a Mystery
I look at my reflection
And all I want to see is you looking back at me
And it brings me down
Because I am him, and he is me
Yet, I need to wander no more
Could you lead me far from this place?
Hidden in the Dark Glass...
I'm letting go and I want to let you know
There will be no more pretention
(But) a different side to see..
To the demise of all that has been holding me down

Spring Meets Summer
04:15
|
|||
Harsh, grey skies
Winds of Winter
Giving way to Spring and Life
Courageous flowers break with vigor
Through the ground, resistant ice
When Spring meets Summer
Her innocence will die
(but) I'll always be the one...
When Spring meets Summer
I'll wish she still was mine
And life through my eyes will stay November
Life's sad and good days never altered
The moods and feelings come and go
But my love will never falter
My curiousity for you...
When Spring meets Summer
Her innocence will die...
In time and season the heart revealing
Sculptured by the choices made
I was a flower in her hair; fading...
...I couldn't hold on...I couldn't follow...
Her innocence will die
She'll always be the one...
When Spring meets Summer
She'll wish she still was mine
And life through her eyes will stay November...

Bleed For Me
04:07
|
|||
You're the path I wish I'd take
You're the burning in my veins
The constant question in my soul
"Do you wanna be set free?"
Now I'm all messed up 'cause I feel your pain
Yet I walked away never looked again
Closed my eyes and slipped away
Will you bleed for me?
Desperation lines these walls
Broken idols brought me nothing
A reckoning with something real
How do you believe in me?
Now I'm all messed 'cause I feel your pain
Yet I walked away never looked again
Closed my eyes and slipped away
Now I'm all messed up 'cause I feel your pain
You believed my promises in vain
Will you bleed for me?
I was asleep but now I see this incident of serendipity
...has set me free
Now I'm all messed up 'cause I feel your pain
...will you bleed for me?

Fall
03:31
|
|||
How did I ever get here?
Surrounded by myself
Fall down; get up
The break before the bend
In a circle taking punches once again
If I fall at your feet again
Should I bother to explain?
How even with your help
I cannot seem to save myself
At the peak of disarray
I'm a felon, at best
Beat by the worst
Failed another test
Defeated by the fear
Good intentions, still,
Inperfection's always near...
If I Fall at your feet again...
If I Fall at your feet
Maybe this time I can change
Will you love me even though I fell?
(And) forgive these lies I try so hard to sell...

Alternate Lifestyle
03:20
|
|||
I need a car 'cause I live in LA
I need a job 'cause I've got bills to pay
Can't color my hair purple or orange
Or pierce myself 'til my nipple is sore
Can't live an...I can't live it
Can't live an alternate lifestyle
Can't live an alternate lifestyle
Can't live it; I can't live it....(oh) well...
I'd like to live life my way
Every moment; every day
With yuppies on Harleys
And tattooed kids on tv
I guess the only way to be a rebel is to be me?
Can't live an alternate lifestyle
Can't live an alternate lifestyle
Can't live it; I can't live it....(oh) well....

Echoes
04:00
|
|||
I sit and watch the stars at night
They burn and shine; they look alive
Another echo of light on black canvas tonight...
That dies it flight, I watch in curiousity
The passerbys (are) always first to die
Am I killing time or is it killing me?
Are we just fumbling (stumbling) through this?
Are we just human echoes?
It only seems like we're just wandering
Existing only to live a lie...
In this cruel sky
And empty spaces fill the places in it's moonlit glare
'Cause we're just echoes making noise in this filthy air
Am I killing time or is it killing me?....
Am I just human enough to pretend
There's no beginning and no end?
Life just fades...
And all that's left is what I made of it...
Am I killing time or is it killing me?

Drift
04:07
|
|||
On and on we go
Asking the same questions
Mother of Discension
Inventing human sorrow
I want you to be there
When I really need you
But I know that you're gone
Falling away is not done so easily
Drift
Don't you slip away
Drift
I'm not that hard to find
Drift
As you're slowly receding...
I grab but you're drifting
I grab but you're drifting away...
Hard to know
If we should just say goodbye
Winter came
But my love is warm and dry
All of the answers begging
Many more questions
But I know it's your departure
Falling away is not done so easily
Drift
Don't you slip away
Drift
Peace is so hard to find
Drift
As you're slowly receding
I grab but you're drifting away...
All, I want all (of you)...
Drift
Don't you slip away
Drift
Love is so hard to find
Drift
As you're slowly receding
I grab but you're drifting
I grab but you're drifting away...

Speed
03:18
|

(The) greased chain screams, broken expectations
Gashing rocks leave the metal bear
A primary incision into a primary mind
(The) cold steal leaves its mark once again
Speedits how I like to roll
My fuel is alcohol
Speed
Relief is only found in motion
Speed
Its how I like to roll my fuel is alcohol
Consumption of a low grade fuel forever
His heart dented for eternity
(The) blood red trademark briefly shows itself
But is covered
The West wind conceals the East
Speedits how I like to roll
My fuel is alcohol
Speed
Relief is only found in motion
Speed
Its how I like to roll my fuel is alcohol
The piston moves quick and erratic
With pulsed rage; he hears the engines roar
Wheels in his mind spin recklessly; forever
as he swerves past the pain in road

Cruelty Free Rochester, New York
While living in Los Angeles, Corey Bates spent his time writing songs late nights in his truck at the Santa Monica Mountains. "I felt like I needed to be completely secluded and let the inspiration flow, so I would sit in the cab of my truck with a flashlight, guitar and lyric pad and just write for hours" recalls Bates. He decided to return to his home state of NY and find the perfect band mates. ... more
